Terry Fox 40 @ SCI Fox 40 @ SCI

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"times new roman", serif;">On Wednesday, October 7th (Rain Date: Thurs, Oct 8th) SCI will be participating in the 40th Anniversary of the Terry Fox Run/Walk. Students are encouraged to wear RED and WHITE, and they will be walking the track throughout the day. In order to maintain classroom cohorts and to facilitate social distancing, each class will have a designated time on the track to themselves with their teacher.

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"times new roman", serif;">Over the years, SCI has been able to raise more than $27,000 in support of cancer research through this event. All of us have been affected by cancer in some way or another, which can be seen through the generous contributions of our school community. If every student brings a toonie ($2) for the event, we can continue to make a meaningful contribution as a school. If students would like to fundraise independently, we have our own website set up by the Terry Fox Foundation to allow them to do so. Just follow the link and click “Students: Set Up Your Page”. Alternatively, parents can donate directly to the cause by clicking “Donate”.

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"times new roman", serif;">Thanks for your support of this event! GO SPARTANS!

Message Sent Home from Guidance Sent Home from Guidance

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#002060;">Hello Spartan Families,

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#002060;">I’m going to try to keep this message brief, but feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#002060;">Tomorrow (Friday, June 19) you will be receiving a DRAFT copy of your student’s 2020/2021 timetable. Obviously the process was a lot different this year, and the conditions didn’t allow me to collaborate with parents and students as much as I typically do in order to build these timetables. Many of the timetables worked out perfectly, but many still have gaps that need to be fixed. In some cases I made a few modifications to student choices (in order to make things work), and a few times I had to get a little creative. In any case, don’t panic! I’m committed to working with you to make the best timetable possible for your son or daughter.

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#002060;">Attached you will find a copy of our DRAFT Master Timetable for the next school year. Take a look at the options available, and if you can see ways in which your student’s schedule can be fixed (or completed), please contact me through email and we’ll work together to get it right.

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#002060;">Regarding eLearning courses, we had a significant number of students expressing interest for these courses when we did our selections earlier this year. Please note: E-LEARNING COURSES MAY NOT SHOW UP ON THE DRAFT TIMETABLE YOU RECEIVE. If your child is enrolled in an eLearning class, you would have received an email about that already. There are a lot of excellent eLearning options still available (I’ve included a list at the bottom of the Master Timetable); if your student is interested, just email me and I can take care of the registration.

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#002060;">Finally, I wanted to mention that while face-to-face summer school programs are not available in our school board this year, there are online options (in both July and August). You can see the complete list here:

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#002060;">Again, if you have any questions, please contact me by email. I’m looking forward to the time that we can get back together again and have these kind of conversations in person.

<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#002060;">Take care!

Benjamin Murray

Guidance Department Chair

Stayner Collegiate Institute

705-428-2639 x42857

2020_2021 SCI Master Timetable DRAFT (v2.5).pdf
